In the Yaroslavl region, the action “Coin Week” is held, in which residents can hand over coins accumulated at home and receive banknotes in return or credit the amount to a bank account. The exchange is carried out without commission. The action will last until November 7.
It was joined by 45 branches of 11 banks located in Yaroslavl, Rybinsk, Gavrilov-Yam, Danilov, Lyubim, Myshkin, Pereslavl, Poshekhonya, Rostov the Great, Tutayev and Uglich. Federal and regional trade networks are also involved.
The list of exchange points is published on the official website of the action. There you can also specify the conditions for accepting coins in a particular branch or outlet.
As explained by the expert on cash circulation of the Bank of Russia Oksana Kulistova, in Russia there are more than 74 billion coins in circulation – an average of about 500 per inhabitant. A significant part of the trifle remains in wallets and home piggy banks and does not return to circulation.
The previous coin week was held in the spring. Then residents of the Yaroslavl region handed over more than 600 thousand coins worth 1.5 million rubles. Most often brought coins of one ruble and ten kopecks. At the same time, compared to last year, the number of coins in denominations of one and five kopecks increased.
