Specialists strengthened the brickwork of the external walls, restored the plaster covering of columns, pilasters, cornices and window slopes. Also updated the color of the doors, window bars and fences, and on the porch strengthened the base of granite slabs. At the same time, special attention was paid to the preservation of the original architectural details that form the unique appearance of the monument.
There have also been significant changes inside the museum. The re-exposition was completed there: the premises were renovated, the lighting and engineering systems were modernized, the entrance area was completely re-equipped - now a wardrobe, a cash register and a souvenir shop are conveniently located here.
The update affected the exhibition space. The museum has a chamber hall for 35 seats with an amphitheatre for spectators, new multi-tier belfry and interactive designs that help to visually get acquainted with the device of bells. Now each visit is accompanied by a lively sound: from the famous Valdai pit bells to church bells of different eras.
The museum history of the building began in 1980 with the exposition "Valdai Bell", and in 1995 on its basis was created the first in Russia Museum of Bells - since then it has become one of the hallmarks of the city. Today, the renovated museum offers not only to see unique exhibits, but also to hear them, to feel the connection between history and sound.
