Ryan Reynolds bought a XIX century pub associated with the football club
The owners of Rexham, Wales' oldest club, have bought The Turf pub. The aim of the purchase is to preserve the historic pub, inextricably linked to the stadium and the club since 1864

A group of owners of football club “Rexham” led by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny completed a deal to buy the pub The Turf, located next door to the home stadium of the team, according to the website “Rexham”.
"The acquisition of The Turf will help preserve the historic pub by uniting the club, the stadium grounds and The Turf under one owner, and will also attract additional investment in the organisation of fans' leisure time during matches," the statement said.
Rexham was founded in 1864 and is the oldest football club in Wales. "The pub plays a key role in the club's history: back in the 1940s, players changed their clothes in the pub before entering the Racecourse Ground Stadium, and it still remains a center of attraction for fans on match days and other days," said pub owner Wayne Jones.
Since the club's acquisition by Reynolds and McElhenny in 2021, The Turf has been visited by Paul Rudd, Channing Tatum and Will Ferrell. In 2024, Prince William of Wales even poured beer at the bar in honor of St. David’s Day.
Rexham play in the Championship (the second most important division in the system of football leagues in England). After eight rounds, the team with ten points is in 14th place.
In the FA Cup, Rexham reached the quarterfinals three times. The club achieved similar successes in 1974, 1978 and 1997.
