Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Støre presented New York City Mayor Zohrana Mamdani with a T-shirt autographed by Arsenal star and Norway captain Martin Edegor.
I am in New York for the United Nations General Assembly. I had a lot of good meetings, I'm Mamdani here. I brought a piece of Norway with me, Støre wrote on Instagram (owned by Meta, the company is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia), posting a photo of Mamdani posing with a T-shirt autographed by Edegor and he himself with a T-shirt of the MLS club “New York City”.
Mamdani is an ardent football fan. He has been supporting Arsenal since the early 2000s.
It was my uncle who introduced me to the Arsenal team. I was born in Kampala, Uganda, in East Africa, and my father's family is from East Africa. Arsenal were one of the first teams to have several African players: Lauren, Kolo Toure, Nwankwo Kanu, Emmanuel Ebu, Alex Song. Over the years, Arsene Wenger has really changed the way English football looks. As a Ugandan kid watching this team, I was so proud, Mamdani said.
