The Kremlin urged “not to run far” in the issue of the Olympics in Russia
The IOC in July lifted sanctions against Russian athletes, but will not hold events in the country yet. Dmitry Peskov on the question about the new Olympics in Russia said that it is necessary to weigh all the pros and cons, but so far this topic is not discussed

Holding the new Olympic Games in Russia is not yet on the agenda, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said. His words are quoted by TASS.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) in July recommended lifting restrictions on Russian athletes imposed because of the military operation in Ukraine. At the same time, the IOC said that it does not plan to hold events in Russia yet.
Asked whether Russia could eventually count on holding a new Olympics, Peskov said that “it is not necessary to run so far.” According to him, not many countries are interested in hosting the Olympics.
“There is, of course, a need to weigh the pros and cons in making the appropriate decisions. So far, this issue is not on the agenda, Peskov said.
Russia hosted the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, and the USSR hosted the 1980 Summer Olympics.
