Ex-Liverpool player gets more than 50 stitches after shepherd attack
Champions League winner Jermaine Pennant spent the night in hospital due to four wounds from bites by a German shepherd who attacked him while walking with his dog

Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Jermaine Pennant revealed on Instagram (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) that he had to go to hospital because of a dog attack.
Pennant, 43, tried to protect his dog, an American Akita named King, from being attacked by a German Shepherd dog while walking, and the shepherd eventually clutched his leg.
According to Pennant, he was on the ground, and the attacking dog was not going to let him go until she was attacked by an Akita. “He saved my life. If King was smaller in size, I wouldn't stand a chance, Pennant told The Sun.
He spent the night in hospital, had more than 50 stitches on four bite wounds, and one of the wounds may require plastic surgery.
Pennant retired in 2018. He won the 2004 FA Super Cup with Arsenal, the Champions League (2007) and the FA Super Cup (2006) with Liverpool.
