NBA star from Latvia suspended his career due to health problems
Center Kristaps Porzingis missed Golden State training camp and did not play a single match this season

Latvian center "Golden State Warriors" Kristaps Porzingis suspended his career due to health problems. He reported this on the social network X.
The 31-year-old did not disclose the nature of his problem, nor did he make it clear if he would return to the game. He has not played a single match this season.
This season I was really looking forward to playing alongside the team, but as I got into shape, my body didn't react the way I expected. I’m fine, but I know what it takes and I’m not where I want to be to show the level I expect from myself. At this stage, I have made the decision to put my health first and move away from the game I love, Porzingis wrote.
The Latvian was selected in the 2015 NBA Draft under the overall fourth number of the New York Knicks. In 2024, he became an NBA champion with the Boston Celtics. He also played for the Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks. In total, Porzingis has 533 games in the NBA, in which he averaged 19.5 points and made 7.6 rebounds. In 2018, he was chosen to participate in the NBA All-Star Game, but the center broke the crosses and could not play there.
