Averbukh said that Trusova was not enough to win the Grand Prix in China
Alexandra Trusova was the second at the ISU Grand Prix stage in China, scoring 3.21 points less than winner Mone Chiba of Japan. According to Ilya Averbukh, this performance was for the Russian woman “a great personal victory”

Russian figure skater Alexandra Trusova (after marriage – Ignatova) did not have enough triple axel to win the third stage of the ISU Grand Prix in China. This was stated by the silver medalist of the 2002 Olympics in ice dancing, choreographer Ilya Averbukh.
Trusova scored 221.27 points (for short and free programs) and won silver. Gold was taken by Japanese Mone Chiba (224.48), and bronze – Korean Lee Ha-in (210.79).
Congratulations to Sasha! I think she's a huge smart girl. This is a great personal victory, so words of delight and wishes to go forward. Well done. She lacked a triple axel in the short program [to beat the Japanese in points]. She probably doesn't jump it confident enough to put it in the program. While she prepares that jump, Averbuch said.
The vice-champion of the Olympics in Beijing resumed her career in January 2026 after the birth of her son. Her last performance at the stages of the ISU Grand Prix took place in October 2021, when she won the Skate America tournament.
It was for this tournament, which will be held from 13 to 15 November in Everett (Washington), Trusova recently received an invitation.
This season, Trusova took silver at the Kinoshita Group Cup (Tokyo, September) and gold at the Denis Ten Memorial (Alma-Ata, October) as part of the ISU Challengers.
The ISU allowed Russians to compete in neutral status, but their quotas for major tournaments are limited due to the lack of rating points introduced after the start of the military operation in Ukraine.
