United League VTB and “Yandex” agreed to broadcast matches at “Kinopoisk”

“Yandex” and basketball United League VTB announced the beginning of a partnership. The agreement on online display of matches is designed for three seasons.

Yandex Plus subscribers will have access to all regular championship matches, play-in, play-off, as well as the All-Star Game, the Winline Basket Cup and the VTB United League Super Cup. In addition, Kinopoisk will feature match reviews, analytical and entertainment programs about players, teams and major league events.

The first broadcast will take place on September 17 - on this day the opening match of the sixth Super Cup of the VTB United League will be held, in which Kazan UNICS and St. Petersburg Zenit will meet. The regular championship will begin on September 25.

“Together, we want to make basketball closer to the audience: to introduce them to our stars, to show the life of teams outside the court, to reveal the stories that are behind the results of matches,” said VTB United League CEO Ilona Korstin. According to Artem Potapov, the head of Yandex’s Sports entertainment services, the partnership will provide “an opportunity to build an ecosystem around basketball that will allow you to talk about VTB United League matches as often as possible and find new basketball fans among the 49 million plus audience.”.
