The leader of the overall standings Antonelli smashed the car in the qualification of the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan

Italian Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli damaged the car in the qualifying of the Azerbaijani Grand Prix. The 15th Formula 1 stage of the season takes place on the city track in Baku.

A 20-year-old rider crashed into a wall while cornering in the first segment and damaged a wheel, which he told his racing engineer on the radio. Antonelli was unable to complete the qualifying session.

The winner of the qualification was Antonelli's partner, British George Russell. In the third segment, he drove a lap in 1 minute 42.526 seconds. The second result was shown by Monegasque Charles Leclerc from Ferrari (+0.837). Australian McLaren driver Oscar Piastri rounded out the top three (+0.838). The race will be held on September 26.

Kimi Antonelli leads the Formula 1 overall with 292 points. He has nine victories this season.
