Alexey Baga left the post of head coach of Torpedo-BELAZ. This is the club's third retirement in a season

At the end of the next round of BETERA – the Higher League of the national championship on football, the post of head coach of the Zhodina club was left by experienced Alexei Baga, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

The 45-year-old specialist took the post of steering team on July 16, 2026. Before him, this season the team was led by Dmitry Lentsevich and Valentin Mikheev. A. Baga was invited to help the Belarusians to correct the situation in the standings. This season, the club from Zhodino under Lentsevich gave not the most successful start, but then followed by a winless series, which allowed to be in seventh position in the table. Then a string of injuries and illnesses knocked out key players. It pulled the torpedoes down. At the same time, Lentsevich resigned, and Mikheev led the team for only a week. He was replaced by Baga. However, he failed to rectify the situation. In nine matches under him, Torpedo-BELAZ in the championship and the Cup of Belarus won two victories with six defeats and one draw. The last straw was a defeat from Vitebsk (0: 6) in the 23rd round. Alexey Baga wrote a statement "at his own request." He was satisfied.

The leadership, when they proposed to me, probably had some hopes that I did not live up to. The latest results, I believe, failed the leadership, the city and the team. When there is no result, the coach leaves. And as for some working moments about injuries, about departures, about some changes... This will look like an excuse, the expert commented.

Together with Baga, the club by agreement of the parties left his assistants - Valery Tarasenko and Vladimir Nevinsky. Acting head coach appointed Denis Karolik. Alexander Grenkov will help him.

Interestingly, three head coaches this year were fired in ML Vitebsk. The season began with the Belarusian Mikhail Martinovich. Then he was replaced by the Russian Magomed Adiev, and then his countryman – Philip Sokolinsky. After the 22nd round, Sokolinsky left this post. Bookmakers are looking for a new mentor. Among the favorites is a specialist from Montenegro Radomir Jalovic.
