Another team refused to play with the Russians at the youth world Cup
The leadership of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation (SIHF) published on the official resource a message that the national team will boycott a meeting with Russian athletes in the upcoming youth world championship, which will be held in Canada

The leadership of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation (SIHF) published on the official resource a message that the national team will boycott a meeting with Russian athletes in the upcoming youth world championship, which will be held in Canada.
On October 30, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) issued a decision obliging the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to return Russian teams to participate in competitions under its auspices in the 2026/27 season. This also applies to the youth tournament, scheduled for the period from December 26, 2026 to January 5, 2027 in the Canadian cities of Edmonton and Red Deer (Alberta). The Swiss federation clarified that the IIHF management has already sent an updated schedule of matches to all participants, taking into account the return of the Russian national team.
In accordance with this calendar, a meeting between the Swiss and Russian teams in the group It is due to take place on December 27. However, the board of directors of SIHF made a categorical decision that their youth team will refuse to go on the ice as part of this fight.
In an official statement, the Swiss side stressed that this step should not be regarded as a complete refusal to participate in the world championship in 2027. Representatives of the federation assured that their youth team still intends to play at the tournament in Edmonton, and the adopted restriction concerns only a face-to-face meeting with Russian hockey players.
