The race distance at the stages of the world championship in the car class “Formula 1” will be reduced by 15 km from next season. This was reported by the press service of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
The pilots will cover 290 km instead of the current 305 km. Due to the change in distance, the duration of the races will be reduced by about two or three laps.
In addition, the FIA lifted the three-hour limit. Now, if the race is interrupted by red flags, then after three hours from the start it is declared completed.
At the same time, the rule on the maximum duration of the race itself remains. The time of arrival from the start should not exceed two hours.
