October 25, 2026 in St. Petersburg completed the second stage of the Russian Grand Prix series in figure skating. The winner of the tournament was Ksenia Sinitsyn, who scored 205.34 points on the sum of two programs. Veronika Yametova won the silver medal (199.84), and Dina Khusnutdinova (197.05) received bronze. It is noteworthy that all three prize-winners represent the school of Evgeny Plushenko “Angels Plushenko”.
Ksenia Sinitsyn improved her result compared to the previous stage in Kazan, where she took third place with a score of 199.83 points. In St. Petersburg, the skater led after the short program, setting a personal record of the season in this form. In the free program, the athlete allowed a fall on a triple flip, but purely performed the cascades and combinations, gaining 131.05 points for hire. The reserve created in the first form was enough for a confident victory. According to the results of the tournament, Sinitsyn also updated her personal record for the sum of the double-athlon.
The skater noted progress in his condition and mood. After withdrawing from the Grand Prix final last season due to emotional burnout and lack of motivation, the athlete was able to find the strength to continue her career thanks to the support of the coaching staff. Sinitsyna admitted that now enjoys performances and considers the current season as the beginning of a new stage. In the plans of the athlete — the inclusion in the program of quadruple toe loop, work on which is already underway, although the element is not yet stable. The skater explained the fall in an arbitrary program by an excessive desire to perfectly perform all the elements and a temporary loss of concentration, noting the absence of physical fatigue.
Veronika Yametova for the first time in the season rose to the podium of the stages of the Russian series. After the short program, the athlete took only seventh place, but the pure execution of the free program allowed her to make a rapid rise. For the second view, Yametova received 132.59 points, winning this segment of the competition. The skater stressed that her main task was to show the maximum level of readiness and clean rolling, despite the imperfect physical shape.
The transition to the group of Evgeny Plushenko was an opportunity for Yametova to get a new impetus in her career. The athlete noted that coaches helped her to believe in her own strength even in moments of doubt. The motivation was the success of classmates in previous stages. In technical terms, the skater temporarily suspended active work on the triple axel and quadruple lutz, focusing on the basic elements, but plans to return to mastering complex jumps, including the triple axel, by the middle or end of the season.
The bronze medal was won by Dina Khusnutdinov, for whom this is also the first podium this season. Student Eteri Tutberidze improved her previous results shown at the international tournament in Kazakhstan, where she finished seventh. In the free program, Khusnutdinova performed a cascade with a triple axel, but made mistakes on solo jumps: the first axel turned into a double one, and a “butterfly” was made on the second. The athlete associated technical errors with emotional stress, but noted positive dynamics in artistry and interaction with the audience and judges.
Khusnutdinova said she had fully recovered from a leg injury that had previously bothered her. The skater plans to take part in the next stage of the Grand Prix in Yekaterinburg, although the final decision may depend on the current state.
