Russian fighter of mixed martial arts and the current UFC champion in the lightest weight Peter Jan advised his future rival, former division champion Georgian Merab Dvalishvili, to issue insurance on the nose. The rematch between the athletes is scheduled for October 24 and will take place in Abu Dhabi (UAE) as part of the UFC 333 tournament.
During a press conference, the Russian athlete said that his opponent should take care of his health and insure his nose.
In addition, Jan asked Dvalishvili to refrain from empty conversations. The Russian fighter noted that his opponent should just go into the octagon and have a fight, stopping meaningless discussions.
In turn, Merab Dvalishvili also commented on his attitude to Russia before meeting with the Russian athlete. He stressed that, despite the previously expressed position, he remains a professional and intends to fight the strongest opponent regardless of his citizenship, promising to give his best.
The main prize in the upcoming fight will be the UFC lightweight championship belt, which is currently held by Jan. For Russian and Georgian fighters, this is the third face-to-face meeting in the Octagon, while at the moment the score in their confrontation is equal: each athlete has one victory.
