The website of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation (SIHF) reports that the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has sent the national federations an updated schedule of the World Junior Championship, according to which the Russian team will play in Group B, taking the place of the Norwegian team.
This is due to the fact that on October 30, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ordered the IIHF to admit Russian teams to tournaments under its auspices in the 2026/27 season, including the youth championship, which will be held from December 26, 2026 to January 5, 2027 in Edmonton and Red Deer (Alberta), Canada.
According to SIHF, after the CAS decision, the IIHF began the process of restoring Russia's participation in the upcoming World Youth Championship and sent an adjusted schedule to the participating countries. According to this plan, the Russian team, which did not participate in previous championships, will take tenth place in the ranking of the 2027 World Youth Championship and replace Norway in the schedule, and the Norwegian team will be downgraded.
The statement also notes that according to the new schedule, the Swiss team should play with the Russians on December 27, but the Swiss hockey players will refuse to go to this game, although they will not withdraw from the tournament.
Earlier it was reported that the first racket of the world Elena Rybakina withdrew from the WTA Final Tournament.
