In Yekaterinburg, the draw for participants of the Grand Prix of Russia in figure skating “Gold of the Urals” took place at the UMMC-Arena. The procedure turned out to be symbolic: athletes drew numbers, getting gold nuggets - this format added to the event Ural color. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk region.
On Saturday, November 7, viewers are waiting for short programs of singles. The start will give Semyon Solovyov and Alice Yurova, and Elizaveta Labutina, representing the Sverdlovsk region, will go on the ice fifth in a row.
In pairs skating, Anastasia Giricheva and Ivan Dolgodvorov will be the first on the ice. Seventh, the bronze medalists of the Russian championships Ekaterina Chikmareva and Matvey Yanchenkov (a native of Forest) will show their program.
In total, 39 athletes will take part in the competitions, which will be held on November 7 and 8 on the ice of UMMC Arena.
The Russian Grand Prix series is held from September to December and includes several stages. The final of the tournament is scheduled for February 2027 – it will be held in Saransk.
Earlier, “MK-Ural” wrote that the Grand Prix of Russia in figure skating among juniors “Gold of the Urals” was held from 4 to 6 November at the “UMMC-Arena” in Yekaterinburg. And on November 7 and 8, adult skaters will perform at the same venue.
Yekaterinburg for the first time in 11 years hosts all-Russian figure skating competitions of this level. Leading juniors of the country will gather at the 12,000-seat arena, for many of them these starts will become an important step in their sports career.
