In Volgograd died honored coach of Russia in athletics Boris Nikolaevich Gorkov, who dedicated to the sport for more than half a century. He was 75 years old.
Boris Gorkov began his career in Leningrad, then worked in Velikie Luki, and since 1996 he lived and worked in Volgograd. At the Olympic reserve sports school in athletics, he worked from 2014 to 2022.
The main direction of the coach was high jump, but his students achieved success in other disciplines. The most famous students are Elena Slesarenko, 2004 Olympic champion, and Alexey Savostin, winner of the Deaflympics in 2009. Boris Nikolayevich was able to find and develop talents.
The farewell ceremony with the coach will be held on September 22 at 11.30 in the Central cemetery. From the stadium VGAFC at 11.00 will go bus for those wishing to lead the coach on his last journey.
