According to the agency, the attackers publish short videos on YouTube and offer to get game currency for free. In the profile of the author of the video, they leave links to phishing sites. The user who clicked on them is asked to choose a messenger for authorization, interested in the game and take part in the draw of virtual coins for it. The player must then specify the phone number and enter the code from the SMS to receive the prize.
The Interior Ministry explained that this way cybercriminals gain access to a person’s account and can use the account to send messages to his contacts, involving other people in their schemes. The department regularly reports about new schemes of fraudsters who began to use combined attacks on Russians. In particular, the attackers introduce a scheme to deceive the parents of teenagers with bank cards and send “letters from the Federal Tax Service” with the requirement to correct the tax return.
