On September 20, the cybercriminal group ShinyHunters announced the hacking of the darknet site of one of its main competitors, hackers from the cl0p association. This is reported by Reuters. ShinyHunters claims that the hack occurred on September 18 due to the discovery of a vulnerability in the software of the cl0p platform. This gave ShinyHunters extensive control over the group's infrastructure. ShinyHunters said it had a conflict with cl0p over the alleged theft in 2025 of data relating to the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) suite of business applications.
In 2023, the cl0p group, which according to Reuters is made up of Russian-speaking hackers, took advantage of a vulnerability in MOVEit file management software to steal the data of tens of millions of people from more than 600 companies. In August, she claimed to have stolen large amounts of data from nearly 50 companies around the world, including Philips, Shell and GE.
ShinyHunters in April announced the theft of millions of corporate records from video game developer Rockstar Games, the creator of the Grand Theft Auto series. In May, she was at the center of a scandal involving the hacking of the Canvas education platform, leading to widespread disruptions in schools across the US.
Cl0p has not responded to requests for comment. As of September 20, her darknet site was unavailable. A day earlier, according to the research platform eCrime.ch, the site appeared the inscription “Domain seized by ShinyHunters”.
