According to officials, flash floods on Monday, October 26, flooded several areas of the island of Phuket in Thailand after heavy night rains.

Flooding has affected all three areas of the southern island province, including its capital. Phuket province's deputy governor, Romdon Hayawai, said the water level began to decline by the afternoon, but some low-lying areas remained flooded and small cars were advised to avoid the area.
He said some areas of the province were also affected by landslides, and authorities were working to clear debris to prevent them from collapsing into canals and clogging waterways.
"Photos and videos posted on social media show floodwaters flooding residential areas and filling several roads, making them impassable." The cars are partially buried under piles of mud and stones left after the flood, the agency said.
About 100 households were affected. No casualties were reported.
Thailand's Meteorological Authority has warned of heavy and prolonged rain in the southern region that will continue until Wednesday. Precipitation can trigger new flash floods and landslides.
