According to Bloomberg, the new iMac and MacBook Pro, introduced on Tuesday, October 27, look similar to their predecessors, but the main changes have occurred inside. Both computers now feature an M6 chip, which first appeared in the Mac mini in September. The iMac is moving to the M4 processor, while the MacBook Pro last year received the M5 processor.
On Monday, the company also unveiled an updated iPad mini with a new screen and water resistance. Will complete a series of presentations on Wednesday, the release of its first ever MacBook Pro touch screen, reports Bloomberg.
The updated iMac and budget MacBook Pro will be available for pre-order on Wednesday and will go on sale from November 6 with the new iPad mini. The new iMac starts at $1,499 and the MacBook Pro starts at $399.
Apple said that the M6 chip makes the iMac five times faster than the previous 2024 model for artificial intelligence tasks, and the new MacBook Pro is 30% faster than its predecessor. Apple continues to sell more advanced MacBook Pros with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are equipped with more advanced processor and graphics cores compared to entry-level models.
The updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac are also equipped with Bluetooth 6 and Wi-Fi 7, and the laptop received faster charging.
