Poland will complicate the procedure for obtaining citizenship by foreigners due to the increase in the number of migrants
The Polish government intends to make the procedure for obtaining citizenship for foreigners more complicated, obliging them to confirm income, tax residency and citizenship.

The Polish government intends to make it more difficult for foreigners to obtain citizenship by requiring them to prove income, tax residency and a higher level of proficiency in Polish. It's from sb.by.

As noted by RIA Novosti with reference to the bill of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration of Poland, posted on the website of the government of the Republic, one of the main innovations will be an increase in the minimum period of legal residence in the country required to request a passport. Foreigners will be required to pass a special exam on knowledge of the realities of Poland and sign a declaration of allegiance to the state. Requirements for proficiency in Polish will be raised from an average level of B1 to a confident B2.
Also, applicants for citizenship must confirm the availability of housing, sources of livelihood, documentary proof that Poland is the main place of their life and tax residence.
In the justification for the bill, the authors of the initiative explain the need for change by the growing number of migrants and the desire to make sure that applicants for citizenship are really connected with Poland and integrated into society.
In addition, the document provides additional grounds for refusing to issue a passport. These include the provision of false information, criminal records or certain administrative offences. Separately, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland proposes to allow the cancellation of decisions on the issuance of citizenship at any time if it becomes known that it was obtained fraudulently, for example, using forged documents.
The Ministry added that obtaining a Polish passport automatically gives EU citizenship, so the new procedure must strictly take into account the issues of state security. The Polish government is expected to consider the bill in the fourth quarter. In Poland detained a Ukrainian on suspicion of sabotage at a plant in Romania
