In the UK, demand for household products jumped markedly - in particular, sales of toilet paper rose sharply. This came shortly after the British government urged citizens to prepare for possible emergencies.

According to RIA Novosti, on October 22, the authorities issued a special brochure with recommendations: in case of payment system failures and supply chain violations (for example, due to cyberattacks), residents should stock up on cash, non-perishable products, water, batteries, blankets and other basic things. The call to form a set of “be ready” provoked a surge in consumer activity.
According to manufacturers and retailers, in the first days after the publication of the brochure, sales of toilet paper increased by 19-43%. The trend is confirmed by the statistics of Amazon: among the 20 most popular products at once three positions – toilet paper of different brands.
In addition, demand for other products from the recommended list has increased significantly. In stores recorded increased interest in canned beans, radios and batteries. Sales of flashlights and first aid kits jumped especially strongly - four times, and demand for generators increased by 172%, the Telegraph reports.
