Republican marathon in Scandinavian walking "Step to longevity" today, October 1, brought together almost 750 residents of Mogilev region. The most large-scale start, which was attended by 120 representatives of the older generation, took place in the Podnikolje Park of the regional center.

67-year-old Elena Kosheleva in his passion for Scandinavian walking has long outgrown the amateur level - he is engaged in sports on a regular basis and competes:
- With the right approach, Nordic walking is a very useful activity that involves all muscle groups. Initially, she chose this direction to maintain her health: she came here as a person with a sick spine, and became almost an athlete. I also do yoga twice a week. I am sure that activity prolongs our years: we look more positively at the world, enjoy life and change for the better.
Pensioner Vasily Latyshev is over 80, but the young and fit man does not look at his years:
- There are no old people in these competitions - we are all young! For me, activity is life! For more than 20 years on a well-deserved vacation, and all this time I try to stay in good shape. I feel better than I did before retirement. Good mood, fresh air, diet, sound sleep, and fishing, chess and friends - this is the secret of my longevity.
The country provides a decent quality of life for elderly citizens, as well as creating conditions for healthy and active longevity, which is a strategic state priority, said Maria Shapnevskaya, Chairman of the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee:
- As the Head of State says, from small to great, all people are ours, and we must make every day a happy person. Citizens of the older generation are full of strength, wisdom and experience that they pass on to young people. It is joyful when they are active, interested in the life of the country and do not sit still.
In the Mogilev region, 277.8 thousand people are registered with the labor, employment and social protection bodies, including more than 56 thousand working pensioners.
