Minec to fight 'consumer terrorism' at hotels

Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Sergey Vakhrukov on the air of the Tamantsev program. In the end, he said that the Ministry is aimed at actively combating consumer hotel terrorism.

“Hotel terrorism” Vakhrukov called the situation when tourists book several rooms in different hotels and at the last minute cancel all options except one.

“There is no one to sell those rooms, because there is no demand, and in hotels these rooms are simply empty, increasing the price of other rooms, because they are out of the market, out of supply,” Vakhrukov explained.

The Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia stressed that this year he will again raise the issue of introducing non-refundable booking rules into the legislation.

“These are issues of consumer and hotel responsibility at the same time. So that the consumer can choose a cheaper number, but the number that he can not return. That is, it will cost less, but the possibilities of such consumer terrorism will be limited, he said.

Vakhrukov assured that the Ministry will fight for the right to implement this initiative, because there is a request from the hotel business for it.
