Tyumen wrestlers held a large-scale open tournament, which gathered 114 participants of different ages. The competitions were held in Tyumen and were dedicated to the memory of the historian Andrei Alexandrov, who for many years studied and popularized this folk sport.
Before the start of the fights, the participants were greeted by the Director of the Department of Culture of the Tyumen region Alexander Sidorov. At the tournament, the artists of the Russian Folklore Union and the children's ensemble Yaretz performed - they sang old long songs and a spiritual poem "You, pigeons." The fights traditionally went under the play of harmony. Yaroslava Melnikova, the representative of the Federation of Russian Wrestling in the Shingles, said that the struggle is an object of intangible ethno-cultural heritage of the Tyumen region and it is planned to submit documents to the Federal Register of NED.
The Federation plans to expand into the territory of the Ural Federal District and hold regular city and regional tournaments. Thanks to the works of Andrey Alexandrov, shingles wrestling entered the federal anthology of folk culture.
