Chukovsky’s office and library temporarily moved from Peredelkin to Moscow
The place of museum registration of part of memorial furniture, personal belongings and other exhibits associated with the name of Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky, until the end of 2028 will be Zubovsky Boulevard in Moscow. Judging by the dates of the exhibition “Live as Life”, V.I. Dahl GMIRL does not expect to complete the restoration of the writer’s house in Peredelkin before this time. So Chukovsky’s office, his library, part of the dining room, and hundreds of genuine artifacts will be temporarily in Moscow. We are talking about dozens of autographs, authentic and copy photos, the first publications and lifetime editions of Chukovsky. And of course, about things that are difficult to imagine existing outside the Peredelkin situation: the Oxford mantle of the writer, gifts from young readers kept on the desktop, a humpty-chatty toy with which the “grandfather of the Roots” is captured in a famous photo, a “fairy lampshade”, about the history of which “MK” at the beginning of the year released a whole strip (!) and much, much more. But the dacha in the writer’s town is not only the Roots of Chukovsky, but also Lydia Chukovsky, Alexander Solzhenitsyn and the struggle of Lydia Korneevna for the return of the name of the Nobel in Russian literature, classic neighbors, guests and inhabitants of Peredelkino, that is, a whole layer of the history of Russian literature, as evidenced by every frame of our photo report.
