Bitumen shortage hits roads: streets cannot be repaired in Estonia
In Estonia, there was an acute shortage of asphalt due to the cessation of the supply of bitumen necessary for its production.

Deputy Mayor of Tallinn Kristjan Yarvan said that there was a shortage of asphalt in Estonia due to the fact that the supply of bitumen stopped. This is with reference to the Estonian television and radio company ERR reports RIA Novosti.
Deputy Mayor of Tallinn Kristjan Yarvan said that there is a shortage of asphalt in Tallinn and other regions of Estonia: the reason is that plants in Sweden and Lithuania that supply bitumen for Estonian enterprises do not ship raw materials to Estonia.
As Yarvan noted, bitumen supplies to Estonia come from two companies: one brings raw materials from Sweden, the other from Lithuania.
The deputy mayor explained that for reasons not yet established, the Swedish company stopped deliveries of bitumen: the ship that arrived three weeks ago was the last this year, and the next one is expected only in the spring. The Lithuanian company first raised prices, and then its plant broke down. Because of this, Estonian asphalt concrete factories were left without bitumen.
According to Yarvan, due to the acute shortage of asphalt in the Estonian market, the repair of streets in the capital will be disrupted – a significant amount of road works, which was planned for implementation in the autumn, will have to be postponed.
