Museum-city

In Verkhoturye, historical buildings will be restored, public spaces will be landscaped and a tourist route will be created, which will unite the main objects of the spiritual capital of the Urals. The city transformation project was presented by the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Denis Pasler after a visit to the municipality.

“Verkhoturye is the spiritual center of the Urals and a real city-museum with unique monuments, architectural masterpieces of Russian and world significance,” said Denis Pasler. This is the only city of the Sverdlovsk region included in the list of 115 cities of the country with valuable urban ensembles and complexes, and the only one in our region with the status of a historical settlement.

The head of the region said that in the coming years it is planned to restore the unique heritage of Verkhoturye. The city infrastructure will be put in order so that the city not only lives, but also welcomes guests from all over the world and develops as a tourist center.

According to Denis Pasler, there is a lot of work to be done, since Verkhoturye has 13 churches, cathedrals and monasteries. There are 140 cultural heritage sites in the city, many of which are of interest to tourists.

Gradually restoring the infrastructure, we will create the Pilgrimage route with a length of 4.1 km, which will unite 12 key locations: the spiritual sights of the city; natural – the embankment of the Tura River, streams; squares, squares, recreation and leisure areas, social facilities. All of them will be connected by a single design code with the preservation of the historical appearance of buildings, Denis Pasler said.

The Pilgrimage Ring Tourist Route will connect historical sights with renovated public spaces. There will be a summer cafe, on the embankment of Tours will equip viewing areas, walking paths and canopies for recreation. Squares will be transformed on Senyansky and Komsomolskaya streets, a fairground square, where shopping arcades and recreation areas will be located. In total, more than 23 thousand square meters of pedestrian areas will be landscaped, benches, lighting, bicycle parking and information steles will be installed.

The restoration of the cultural heritage site of federal significance “House of the hegumen” has already begun. Work should be completed by October 2027. The restoration of the architectural monument of regional significance “House of Honored Guests” is underway. The building must be renovated by next summer.

At the Cross Cathedral are going to install a dome. The site for its assembly has already been prepared. It will be installed by the end of next year. Until April next year, work should be completed to restore the facade of the Transfiguration Church.

“The revival of the Verkhoturje is a special task. The historical and cultural wealth of this city does not give the right to treat it indifferently, Denis Pasler stressed. I am sure that through the joint efforts of the authorities, businesses and residents, we will be able to bring Verkhoturye in line with its title of “Spiritual Capital of the Urals” and allow pilgrims from all over the country to see this pearl of the Sverdlovsk region.

A vital issue

In addition to the improvement and renovation of facilities in Verkhoturye, conditions are created for the preservation of specialists on the territory. Denis Pasler presented the keys to four new homes to public sector employees. Two doctors of the Central District Hospital and two teachers of local schools received official housing.

I thank everyone who supported and supports this project to build new houses in Verkhoturye, including business and the United Russia party. Together, we are building housing for public sector workers throughout the region and, of course, we will continue, because there is a need in all territories, said Denis Pasler. In Verkhoturye, I am sure, this is the first step towards creating a new district for families who will remain here to live and work. And one of the points of our large-scale program to update the Verkhoturye.”.

The area of each house is 79.9 square meters. New housing was provided to physicians-therapists of the Central District Hospital. The keys were also given to primary school teacher Svetlana Deryabina and teacher Roman Mikhalei.

“Roman Sergeevich conducts classes at the Center for Children’s Creativity,” said Denis Pasler. He is a participant in a special military operation, a veteran of hostilities, with his wife raising three children. For a family, housing is a vital issue, and today it is resolved.”.
