A new scenario of the Babin Kut interactive platform will be presented by the Minsk Regional Museum of Local History in 2026

The Minsk Regional Museum of Local History in Molodechno by the end of this year will prepare for visitors of the interactive ethnographic platform Babin Kut a new scenario of ritual action, said the scientific secretary of the museum Olga Shilko. According to her, this is one of the most famous mobile and stationary projects of the museum, which has existed for about ten years.

"Babin Kut" - thematic museum classes. They can be on completely different topics. Well, for example, one of them is a Belarusian hut. There are options for classes at the museum and on the road.

- Recently, there has been a very high demand for an exit option in kindergartens. And even tomorrow we go with this lesson in Molodechno, in the 33rd kindergarten. We bring museum items with us. Well, of course, the entourage is the walls of the most Belarusian hut traditional, log log log cabin. And against this background, we set up a table, shops and all kinds of kitchen utensils that were necessary for cooking. First and foremost, of course, the bread. It is the most important product of our ancestors. It was, and now we have the most important on the table. In the process, we introduce how bread is prepared and be sure to let the children taste it. This is the most interesting interactive moment. In the kitchen, the bread is heated and served to the children in a warm form, as if we had just taken it out of the oven. This is our secret, said the interlocutor.

With these thematic classes, the museum travels throughout the Minsk region. Sometimes for one day, sometimes for two, sometimes on a business trip for several days.

Babin Kut is established when museum staff consider it necessary to tell and acquaint visitors with the ethnographic collection. On the basis of the museum, of course, it is possible to show more objects than on the road. Sometimes the goal is to show exactly wooden utensils or pottery.

Thematic classes are also tied to the holidays. The work plan of the museum for the year, which takes into account folk traditions, holidays, rituals. The nearest "Babina Kuta" will be on Kolyads. Starting from December 25 and ending in the next 2027, in mid-January, when Baptism is celebrated. The scenarios are different: it can be poor kutya, it can be rich kutya. Completely different dishes, and the material is served differently.

Minsk Regional Museum of Local Lore was opened in 1959 as Molodechnen Regional Museum of Local Lore, and a year later it was renamed.

The museum has more than 80,000 items. On their basis, a permanent exhibition was created. She has been working in a new building since 2011. It is called “History of Minsk region since ancient times”. It is located in a hall of more than 200 square meters. In addition, there is an exposition about the Great Patriotic War, the history of the genocide of the Belarusian people. It is called “Memory and Pain of Minsk Land”. A separate very remarkable topic is the nature of the Minsk region, the nature of the native land. He's in demand from the kids. There are also a number of temporary exhibitions, for example, devoted to the economic success of the Minsk region, about the modernity, which is shifted to the 21st century. This is the economy, the social sphere, and culture. And constantly throughout the year, the museum offers visitors shifting exhibitions, shifting expositions that complement the permanent expositions. For example, now there is an exhibition dedicated to September 17 “This Day in History”.

During the year, 60 thousand visitors get acquainted with temporary and permanent expositions of the Minsk Regional Museum. Most of them are students of schools, colleges, but lately there is an active demand for a family visitor when parents come with children. The proximity of Molodechno to Minsk determines a significant flow from the Belarusian capital. And, of course, guests come from abroad. These are mainly Russian tourists.
