Premieres for adults and young spectators. In the Kupalovsky theater shared plans for the new season

The National Academic Theatre named after Y. Kupala in the new season will present various premieres. The season promises to be interesting and difficult for the troupe, because there are plans to prepare eight productions, said the artistic director of the theater, director Dmitry Akimov, a correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency.

The goal is to form a cultural code and emphasize national identity. For this we turn to Belarusian dramaturgy. So, on March 27, the premiere of the play by Moliere in the translation of the Belarusian classic will be held on the Day of the Theater, Akimov said. – We will also turn to the work of Shamyakin in honor of the author’s anniversary. I will present on October 7-8 the premiere of “Serza Na Daloni”. The director of the premiere on the chamber stage will be the artist of our theater Ilya Krug, who has already shown the directorial potential during the reading of the work “Rai”. Also, together with Victoria Klevko, they will release a play based on her new novel “May First Eve”.

For a teenage audience in December, the premiere of the novel by Evgeny Khvalei “The Princess of the Party” is planned. And for the youngest spectators and their parents, a performance under the working title “Zavirukha” is being prepared, which will include four fairy tales of Belarusian folklore.

- In the near future, we plan to launch a project dedicated to the anniversary of Yanka Kupala, which is waiting for us next year. Soon we will announce a competition-laboratory for writing plays about the biography of the classic. It will be held jointly with the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum and the Belarusian Drama Center. It can be an artistic view of the biography of the author, and documentary, there may be an element of biopic or fan fiction, anything. Several plays will receive prizes, and the Grand Prix is the staging of the play for the author’s anniversary, Akimov said.

According to the artistic director of the theater, the competition will be combined with educational programs that will help young playwrights learn to write plays so that they find embodiment on the stage.

He also recalled that recently there was a creative project “Kupala”. Laboratory. As a result, it was decided to put on a small stage a sketch of Andrei Shlyapin on the play “Mudromer”.
