In the library of the village of Nizhny Pesha passed local history hour
It was timed to coincide with Pustozersk Day

It was timed to coincide with Pustozersk Day. The participants of the event were young readers - students of the 6th grade under the guidance of Andrei Nikolaevich Anufriev.
During the meeting, students got acquainted with the history of the ancient city. The librarian told the children about the emergence and flourishing of the center of the Pechora Territory, its importance in the development of northern and Siberian lands, as well as the reasons for the extinction of Pustozersk. Of particular interest to the sixth graders was the story about the life and work of Protopope Avvakum, a voider prisoner, one of the first Russian writers and the largest figure of the early Old Believers. The children learned about his work “The Life of Protopope Avvakum, written by him himself”.
An excursion to modernity found no less response: schoolchildren were told about the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the city and about the work of the Pustozersk Museum-Reserve - a branch of the GBUK Museum Association of the Nenets Autonomous District.
The brightness of the event was added by a colorful media presentation. Participants asked about the facts of interest. In conclusion, the children got acquainted with the book exhibition “Arctic Outpost”, where sources from the library fund are presented. The following headings helped to orient the exposition: “History of the ancient city”, “Pustozersk sufferers”, “Preserved heritage” and “Read about Pustozersk”.
