In Luninets presented a unique edition “Memory”. Continuation. Resistance to genocide, created by the joint efforts of the district prosecutor's office and the editorial office of the newspaper "Luninetska naviny". The new book, authored by the honorary citizen of the district, journalist and local historian Tatiana Konopatskaya, not only sums up the five-year work to investigate the crimes of Nazism on the Belarusian land, but also tells about the courage of those who fought against the Nazi occupation in the district.

The publication became an important milestone in perpetuating the memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War in Luninetchi. On the one hand, the book sums up the large-scale five-year work in the framework of the criminal investigation into the genocide of the Belarusian people. Its pages document terrible evidence of Nazi atrocities, including the tragic discovery of the autumn of 2021 in the tract of Mochulo near Luninets, where the remains of 834 civilians killed by the Nazis in August 1941 were found. The author paid special attention to the nine burned villages of the district: tragedies are told not by dry facts, but through live stories from the lips of witnesses.

On the other hand, the book tells about the courage and desire for life of those who fought against the Nazi occupation in the area. It's not just about guerrillas and Red Army men. The detailed memoirs of Lev Kolosov about the life of Luninets in 1941-1944 are very valuable. The book tells how in 1942 the prisoners of the ghetto in the village of Lahwa rose up, thereby saving the lives of more than six hundred innocent civilians for whom graves had already been dug

- It is important to remember what hell did the invaders and their accomplices to the residents of the occupied territories, our grandfathers and great-grandfathers. It is important to remind the children of the twenty-first century about the consequences of the “politics of genocide and scorched earth” that our country endured. It is important to teach the younger generation to distinguish between good and evil, to cultivate hatred for every evil and the ability to resist it, said Tatiana Konopatskaya, but it is impossible to overcome the enemy with hatred - only love leads to victory. And our book shows three years of German-fascist occupation not only through tragedies, but primarily through the heroism of patriots of our region – partisans and underground fighters, ordinary strong-minded people. They caused damage to the occupiers, even simply by not kneeling, as the whole of Europe bowed before the fascists. Patriots gave us confidence in our victory. They loved their families and their homeland. And they died. They only die for what is worth living for. Those we love live in our hearts. Because they died for us, too.

The author expressed gratitude to the prosecutor of the Luninets district Yuri Prokopchuk for supporting the proposal to collect materials of a broader plan than the atrocities of the fascists. On the pages of the book are the names of not only the victims, but also the real heroes, their stories, which will be of interest to new generations of residents of Luninetsk region.
