In Murmansk will show Pomor finds from the archipelago of Spitsbergen

In Murmansk, Pomorsk finds from the Spitsbergen archipelago will be shown. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk region.
The original finds are stored in the museum in the village of Barentsburg. According to Norwegian law, they cannot leave the archipelago, so the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences digitized objects, created 3D models and printed replicas. Artists painted them by hand.
In Murmansk will show 15 models. Among them are a carved cross, dishes with inscriptions, a knife handle, fishing gear and household items. Separately, they will present a wooden “azbuka” with an Old Believer alphabet and a reconstruction of the image of the buried pomor, found in 2025.
The exhibition is timed to coincide with the international conference on Svalbard research. It will bring together more than 50 scientists.
Earlier, “MK in Murmansk” said that scientists from Murmansk went to study fish stocks in Spitsbergen.
