Yakut cinema enters the Asian market: Memorandum signed with the Producers Guild of Korea
In Yakutsk and in the international arena - a big event for regional cinema

In Yakutsk and in the international arena is a big event for regional cinema. Yakut filmmakers officially enter the South Korean market.
Within the framework of the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) in Busan, the Yakutia Filmmakers Association and the Producers Guild of Korea (PGK) signed a memorandum of understanding. The document was signed by Executive Director of the Association Stepan Burnashev and President of the Guild of Producers of Korea Lee Dong Ha.
The agreement provides not just an exchange of pleasantries, but a real production cooperation:
Collaborative development: the creation of film projects involving both parties.
Exchange of experience: transfer of technology and knowledge between Korean and Yakut filmmakers.
International market: promotion of joint projects at the largest venues - ACFM in Busan, FILMART in Hong Kong and Marché du Film in Cannes.
President of the Producers Guild of Korea Lee Dong-ha highly appreciated the potential of Yakut cinema: Yakut cinema is one of the most original voices that have appeared in Asian cinema in recent years. It deserves to be part of a professional dialogue between Asian producers.”.
Stepan Burnashev stressed that Yakut cinema has grown from a local community to a strong industry: We tell stories in our native language with our own vision. Korea is an example of how a vibrant national identity can resonate with viewers around the world. We want the result to be projects that we design and produce together.”.
This agreement gives Yakut directors and producers direct access to Asian investors and distributors, which can be a qualitative leap for the film industry of the republic.
