The room was hollering, laughing and dying. At the festival "Lalki over Nemanam" in Grodno performed the theater of puppets from China

For the first time in Grodno performed puppet theater from China. The artists gave a performance at the sold-out, BelTA reports.

The dolls danced, played the guitar, fought with a sword in their hands and deftly put weapons in the sheath, fought with the lion - in Grodno, the Central Puppet Theater of Quanzhou from the Chinese province of Fujian performed with a sold-out house. The troupe from China traveled thousands of kilometers to take part in the V open festival “Lalki over Nemanam”, which gathered in Grodno 14 puppet theaters from four countries – Belarus, Russia, China and Uzbekistan.

Such a theater in the city on the Neman is performing for the first time, and those wishing to see the original Chinese art of puppets bought tickets long before the festival began. The audience was waiting for something unique, and they got it. In the production titled “Living Puppet Theater: Ancient Art in a New Light”, amazing puppets controlled by dozens of threads really came to life in the hands of actors. Sometimes their plastic looked so that the viewer involuntarily doubted whether the eyes were failing. When the heroine remembering her youth transformed in a matter of seconds, changing not only the appearance, but also her outfits, when the cute monkey took a guitar into her paws, famously throwing her foot on her leg, and the novice of the monks stumbled and fell on the mountain path - the hall shook, laughed and froze. Without a word from the actors, only with short stories from the host that sounded in complete darkness, the audience understood everything that guests from the far eastern country wanted to convey.

The instructive scenes were accompanied by infinitely beautiful Chinese songs. The dresses of the puppets amazed with brightness and sparkling brilliance. Young actors masterfully and almost imperceptibly to the public coped with a complex system of threads.

As the artists bowed out with their little friends, the hall exploded with applause and shouts of "Bravo!".

“This is an incredible sight! For the first time at such a performance, I am amazed by the skill of the actors, the talent of all who created this wonderful performance. The same artists from China with great interest follow the performances of colleagues from other countries, get acquainted with Grodno and note the high level of the Grodno festival.

As the director of the Grodno Regional Puppet Theater Maria Shabashova told, the festival “Lalki over Nemanam” brought together more than 150 professionals of theatrical art, 14 theater groups are already known to the Grodno audience and those who came for the first time present their performances for children of different ages and adults.

The organizers of the festival are the Department of Culture of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee and the Grodno Regional Puppet Theater.

The festival of theatrical art in Grodno will last until September 20.
