The situation on the Russian fuel market has significantly improved compared to what it was a month and two weeks ago, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters at the Russian Energy Week. He attributed this to the return of a number of refineries to work after repairs.
“The situation is improving. Yesterday, we held a regular headquarters together with the regions, the Ministry of Energy and the federal executive authorities. We have a number of plants went into operation after repairs, and today the situation is much better than a month ago than two weeks ago, Novak said.
According to him, the improvement of the situation contributes to the strengthening of protection of energy facilities. At the same time, further dynamics will depend on attacks on infrastructure.
“Let us hope that the situation will continue to improve. Of course, a lot depends on the further development of the situation on attacks on the energy infrastructure, despite the fact that our plants are defended – we are strengthening this protection.
In early October, Novak reported a slight shortage of gasoline in the domestic market, noting that diesel fuel in Russia is enough. He said that the authorities are taking measures to cover the shortage of gasoline, and after the balance is restored, Russia will return to using only its own petroleum products and exporting gasoline.
To ensure the domestic market, the government limited the export of fuel. The ban on gasoline exports is valid until January 31, 2027. At the end of September, the authorities also extended until October 31 inclusive the ban on the export of diesel and marine fuel, as well as gas oils for producers.
