Russia and the United States maintain contacts on the sale of foreign assets of LUKOIL, said the press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov on the air of the First channel.
Peskov was asked about the validity of the license of the US Treasury, which removes from the US sanctions negotiations on the sale of foreign assets of the company.
There are contacts, indeed, Russian-American in this regard. In this case, the license can be extended without any difficulty, Peskov said.
When asked about a possible buyer of the assets, the spokesman stressed that the transaction is commercial in nature and cannot be discussed publicly.
LUKOIL announced its intention to sell foreign assets in October 2025 after the imposition of US sanctions. In January 2026, the company entered into an agreement with the investment company Carlyle, but at the end of July it became invalid because the transaction did not receive approval from the US Treasury.
In October, The New York Post reported that a consortium led by investor Todd Boeli intends to acquire LUKOIL’s foreign assets, the value of which was estimated at about $20 billion (about 1.67 trillion rubles).
