Agrodrones processed 292 thousand hectares of fields in the Samara region in 2026

Samara farms brought the use of agricultural drones to a new scale
By October 7, 2026, a fleet of 102 unmanned vehicles allowed to process 292,434 hectares of sown areas. Just two years ago, a similar figure was only 22 thousand hectares, and in 2025 reached 167.6 thousand.
The bulk of aviation work traditionally falls in the second half of the year, including desiccation and autumn treatments.
Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region Alexei Popov in an interview with “MK in Samara” associated rapid growth, including the fight against the vagaries of the weather.
In overwetted 2025, ground equipment did not always have time to enter the field, while drones ensured compliance with agrotechnical deadlines.
The infrastructure basis of the direction is the Federal Center for Research and Testing of Unmanned Systems, deployed on the basis of the FGBI “Volga MIS”.
The institution accompanies technologies at all stages, comparing agrotechnical performance with optimal operating modes. Thus, farms receive not just equipment, but proven recommendations for its use.
For Samara farmers who prefer their own fleet of drones, there is a mechanism of partial reimbursement of costs.
The state compensates up to 40 percent of the cost of purchasing unmanned systems with a takeoff weight of 30 to 500 kilograms. Similar support applies to precision farming equipment.
