In the Brest region potato yield exceeded last year, reaching 329 centners per hectare

In the Brest region, potato harvesting is planned to be completed next weekend. Most of the farms and farms specializing in growing this crop have already dug tubers. By the morning of October 23, only 3 percent remained in the region.

- Commercial potatoes in the amount of 100 tons were laid in the stabilization fund for the Minsk region. We actively trade tubers at autumn fairs. The average price is 80 cents per kilogram. Bulba is in good demand, he said.

This season, the yield of potatoes in Brest region by 24 centners exceeded last year, reaching 329 centners per hectare. Oksana Kostyuchik, Head of the Crop Production and Fodder Production Department, noted that more than 136 thousand tons of tubers have been dug up in the region, according to the results of harvesting, more than 140 thousand tons are expected:

- The highest yield of potatoes in Baranovichi district is 576 centners per hectare. In the Ivatsevichi district, the yield is at the level of 410 centners, in Lyakhovichi and Luninetsk - 372 and 370 centners per hectare, respectively.

If it were not for the prolonged drought that affected the southern and western regions of the Brest region, the yield and gross potato harvest would be even higher. Modern technologies and the efforts of people in growing second bread can minimize the consequences of weather anomalies.

In Brest region continue to replenish the reserves of potatoes in storages with a microclimate. A stable fund will be formed to the optimum extent. Over 6.7 thousand tons of commercial tubers will be laid for the off-season - more than last year.
