Belarus ready to provide Cambodia with expertise in road design and maintenance – Lyakhnovich

Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Alexey Lyakhnovich and Minister of Public Works and Transport of the Kingdom of Cambodia Peng Ponea at the Global Forum on Sustainable Transport in Beijing discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of civil aviation, road transport and road construction. Peng Ponea emphasized the interest of the Cambodian side in the construction of highways and bridges.

- We have already completed the construction of a high-speed highway connecting the capital with the seaport. The next stage will be a large-scale project of a highway from Phnom Penh to the border with Vietnam. The third priority route will connect the capital with Thailand, he said.

In turn, Alexey Lyakhnovich confirmed the readiness of the Belarusian side to provide in-depth expertise in the field of road design and maintenance.

- Belarus occupies the leading place among the CIS countries in terms of road density, and now we are focused on their modernization. Since 2014, the technology of laying cement concrete coatings, which are characterized by increased strength and durability, has been introduced in the republic. We are ready for a full-fledged partnership – from the exchange of experience and technology transfer to joint maintenance of the road network and the introduction of solutions to increase the repair time, the head of the department said.
