Deputies discussed the results of reindeer husbandry for 2025

Deputies at the meeting of the relevant commission chaired by Matvey Chuprov discussed the implementation of the main production indicators in reindeer husbandry over the past year.

The annual report on the state of affairs in the industry was made by Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Resources, Ecology and Agro-Industrial Complex of the NAO - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Trade Sergey Kiselev.

Reindeer herding in the district is engaged in 27 farms, which employ about 700 people. The population at the beginning of 2026 — 160.3 thousand heads (third place in Russia after Yamal and Yakutia).

During the discussion, Chairman of the Commission Matvey Chuprov noted that, despite the stable state of the industry, the merits of reindeer herders and the effectiveness of state support measures, there is a shortage of personnel in the industry: “Without the influx of young specialists and creating a decent motivation for them, reindeer herding risks losing the continuity of generations. The personnel question requires a separate solution and it remains under the control of the standing committee.”.
