The head of Dagestan proposed to secure Makhachkala the status of a million-plus city

The head of Dagestan, Fyodor Shchukin, took the initiative to secure Makhachkala the status of a city with a million people. He stated this at the session of the People's Assembly of the Republic.

Shchukin noted that the Makhachkala agglomeration is the heart of Dagestan, where almost a third of the region's population lives. At the same time, he noted that it is here that the problems accumulated over the years are most acute: power outages, unauthorized construction, traffic congestion, lack of places in schools and hospitals.

According to the head of the region, it is necessary to fix the status of a city with a million people and adopt a program of integrated development of Makhachkala, turning it into a modern center of the Caspian region.
