MTS launched a 5G network in the Yaroslavl region

MTS opened for subscribers access to the 5G network in the Yaroslavl region. The first city, where the network of a new generation, was Rybinsk. 5G mobile communication is already available in popular urban locations – in the central part of the city, near transport and social infrastructure, as well as in areas with a high concentration of users.

To launch 5G, MTS specialists carried out a set of technical works to modernize the network and prepare the infrastructure. The new communication standard works on the existing frequencies LTE 2100 MHz on the principle of technological neutrality, which allows you to use the existing frequency resource for different generations of mobile communication. This approach allows for a phased expansion of 5G coverage without waiting for an entirely new infrastructure to be built.

You can see the 5G icon in Rybinsk on the smartphone screen, in particular, in the area of the railway station on Pushkin Street, in the historical center of the city near the Transfiguration Cathedral on Krestovaya Street, as well as in densely populated areas - for example, near Lenin Avenue and key city facilities.

The launch of 5G in Rybinsk is a new stage in the development of the city’s digital infrastructure. For users, this is primarily high data transfer speeds and reduced delays, which in the future will allow the use of virtual reality technologies, watch interactive broadcasts and work with large amounts of data. At the same time, the main potential of 5G is revealed for business and industry. The new technology will soon create conditions for industrial robots, automated equipment and other solutions where stability, speed and minimum latency are important. For Rybinsk, a city with a strong engineering school and industrial potential, the launch of a new network opens up additional prospects for the digital development of enterprises, said Semyon Kmet, Director of MTS in the Yaroslavl Region.

“The development of the city is always the result of joint work of government and business. The launch of the 5G network in Rybinsk is an example of such a partnership. We create conditions, business brings technology, and together we improve the quality of life of people and the investment attractiveness of the territory. I thank MTS for the partnership and trust in Rybinsk, said the head of the Rybinsk city district Dmitry Rudakov.

According to a study by the information and analytical agency TelecomDaily, MTS leads in the maximum speeds of mobile Internet in 5G networks. The study was conducted in five Russian cities with million people, where new generation networks are already available: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Ufa. Experts measured the speed of mobile Internet in the networks of the four largest operators.

The development of 5G networks will expand the possibilities of using modern digital solutions in the region - from everyday services for residents to high-tech projects for business.
