NIS asks U.S. to renew work license after October 30

The Russian-Serbian company Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS), which is under US sanctions, appealed to the US Treasury for another extension of the operating permit. This was reported by the press service of the company.

The current license, according to NIS, expires on October 30, 2026. The company sent a request to the U.S. Department for a special permit, which will allow to continue work after the expiration of the current license.

NIS received its previous license on September 30. The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Treasury Department issued a permit for operating activities until October 31.

At the same time, negotiations are continuing on the sale of a controlling stake in NIS. We are talking about a share of 56.15% owned by the Russian company Gazprom Neft. The potential buyer is the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL.
