Novosibirsk became more difficult to write off debts through bankruptcy
In Russia for the first time in ten years decreased the number of citizens declared bankrupt

According to “Kommersant” with reference to the data of “Fedresurs”, the decline in the number of bankruptcies is associated not so much with the improvement of the financial situation of the population, but with a change in judicial practice. The courts began to carefully study the circumstances of the occurrence of debt, the movement of borrowed funds and the actions of debtors aimed at repaying loans.
As a result, restructuring is increasingly used instead of total debt cancellation. It involves changing the terms of payments and repayment of debt under the new schedule, taking into account the financial capabilities of the citizen.
For the Novosibirsk region, the problem remains relevant. By the end of 2025, the region took first place in the Siberian Federal District in terms of the number of consumer bankruptcies. 13,754 people were declared financially insolvent.
At the same time, in the first half of 2026, the Arbitration Court of the Novosibirsk region received 8,070 applications for declaring citizens bankrupt. This is 7.2% more than in the first six months of the previous year.
Against the background of the tightening of judicial practice, experts recommend that residents, if financial difficulties arise, first consider alternative ways to settle debts. Among them are credit holidays, debt restructuring directly in the bank and other legal mechanisms.
Experts also warn of caution when choosing intermediaries who promise guaranteed cancellation of all debts. Now the outcome of the procedure largely depends on the specific circumstances of the case, so before going to court, experts advise to get legal advice.
Earlier, “MK in Novosibirsk” reported that the company involved in the case of embezzlement of 1.3 billion rubles in NIITO demanded bankruptcy.
