Brest region farmers expect to receive at least one million tons of sugar beet

Usually during the harvesting of sugar beets, which lasts about two months, the sweet root, thanks to rain and moderate autumn heat, adds 15-20 percent to the yield. This year, farmers of the Brest region were not so lucky with the weather. Precipitation has been lacking since the beginning of spring, and its shortage in the soil is still felt. To minimize the effects of drought farmers allowed strict adherence to technology.

Support in the cultivation of technical culture, ranging from the provision of high-quality seeds and ending with allowances for early harvesting, farmers were provided by a processor - JSC "Zhabinkovo Sugar Plant". Now it helps with the transportation of roots. In recent years, the company has undergone a deep modernization. A day here processed at least 10 thousand tons of sugar beet. Delivered from 13 districts of Brest region and two — Grodno.

In OJSC "Rogoznyansky" of Zhabinkovo district - one of the farms of the resource zone - cleaning began from the most drought-affected areas. The yield here amounted to a little more than 300 centners per hectare, but with the transition of technology to the best areas increased.

- Last year, on average, more than 600 centners of root vegetables were dug up per hectare, says experienced mechanizer Vasily Kot. - Now the result is more modest. Today, for example, at the level of 400 centners. But sugar content at 17% is higher than the baseline. There will be more output of finished products.

In the summer, Vasily Kot on the KZS-1218 harvester participated in the harvest, during the sowing of winter crops on the Amkodor, he was engaged in loading organic matter, completes the agricultural season by harvesting sweet root crops:

- Beet harvester take out in the field of hours from eight and work until late in the evening. The sweet root in the ground continues to grow. It is important to complete the digging before the first frosts and at the same time get the maximum return from the remaining areas.

Sugar beet in JSC Rogoznyansky is cultivated according to the smart convizo system, which provides an innovative approach to weed control, reducing the number of treatments and reducing stress for the culture itself. Chief agronomist of the agricultural enterprise Sergey Sobolevsky announces that next year the area is planned to be reduced:

- This season, 216 hectares were allocated. We're not planning more than two hundred. Technologically, everything will be sharpened for better yields.

In the Brest region of 22 thousand hectares of sugar beet harvested two-thirds. Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Food of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Anatoly Shchuplenkov notes that the yield reached 415 centners per hectare, the sugar content - at the level of 16.6 percent:

In Baranovichi and Lyakhovichi districts, to a lesser extent affected by drought, beets are dug up at 611 and 590 centners per hectare, respectively. Where work is still underway, the return of root crops increases. We expect to receive at least one million tons of sugar beet.
