In Grodno, representatives of enterprises and businesses at a meeting in the regional branch of the BelCCI discussed the prospects for the supply of Belarusian products to the Georgian market. It's reported by sb.by.

Participation in the discussion in the round table format was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belarus Giorgi Saganelidze, Chairman of the BelCCI Mikhail Myatlikov, Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Sergey Myasnikov, Head of the Administration of the FEZ Grodnoinvest Dmitry Rozhkov, as well as representatives of enterprises of the construction and woodworking industries of the region.
BelCCI Chairman Mikhail Myatlikov stressed that the initiative of such a meeting came directly from the Georgian side:
The trade turnover between Belarus and Georgia has almost doubled in six months. This was facilitated by the favorable geographical position of Georgia and the availability of port infrastructure, road and rail links with different countries. Georgia is currently experiencing a boom in construction, especially on the coast, where a huge number of hotels of different categories are being built. In addition, the construction of an 11-kilometer tunnel and other important transport arteries is being completed, so the Georgian side is interested in cooperation with Belarusian enterprises, as well as railway workers. It is planned to launch a high-speed train Minsk-Tbilisi, which will transit through the Russian Federation. The maximum travel time is six days. This will be an interesting route that will reduce the cost of cargo delivery by half. I am confident that due to joint efforts, trade between the countries should be increased.

- Our population is familiar with dairy production in Belarus and with meat products, everyone likes it very much. There is a demand for other goods, primarily building materials, woodworking and not only. Establishing ties with Belarusian enterprises will contribute to the development of tourism infrastructure in Georgia. The competition is great, but when there is quality, our business and society make the appropriate choice. I have not heard of anything of poor quality from Belarusian products. Everything that is imported, everyone likes it. But in terms of woodworking, something is missing. We need to get some momentum. First of all, we mean such positions as plywood, MDF, laminate.
Dmitry Rozhkov, head of the administration of FEZ Grodnoinvest, also noted the growth of exports of goods produced by resident enterprises to the Georgian market:
- Last year, the growth rate was more than 170 percent. In the first half of this year, exports increased by more than 30 percent. Plate materials are exported - these are fibre-wood and particle-wood, as well as canned meat processing products, wooden furniture, plywood glued, sausage shell, lecithin and other products. We see the prospects for the development of this market, the expansion of supplies of residents of the free economic zone. Trade and economic relations and tourism.
