The largest agricultural enterprise in the Braginsky district is OJSC Peramozhnik. It has more than 15 thousand hectares of farmland, including about 10 thousand arable land. No wonder there are a lot of cattle here. The total number is 5,800 head, including 1,570 - milking herd. Accordingly, it requires a significant amount of feed. Weather conditions throughout the district and the Gomel region as a whole have not contributed to the growth of grasses and corn this year. How in this situation the problem of providing livestock with feed is solved - in the material of the correspondents of "SG".

Under corn on the silage in the farm allocated 1800 hectares. The cleaning is completed, there is a small area left. The work is occupied by 4 forage harvesters and up to 13 units of equipment on the transportation of green mass.
Combainer Vitaly Tseluyko said that by profession he is a locksmith, but from May to late autumn he is busy harvesting feed, working regardless of time:
- It's in the workshop at seven in the morning. Preparation of equipment. Eight in the field. And until dark. You can't do that. I understand that animals need a lot of food.
Tractorist Sergei Shvabov pressed hay and straw in the summer, now takes the corn to the silo:
- Now the days are shorter, but the essence of the matter does not change. We work until dark to have time to lay the maximum feed. We can’t let the cattle breeders take offense at us in winter.

Corn isn't happy this year.
- In the summer there was no rain for two months, said the acting chief agronomist Igor Shchuchenko. Therefore, the average yield of the green mass of corn is 120 centners per hectare against 200 - a year ago.
In such a situation, extreme attention is paid to the quality of the silo laid in the trenches. Tampering goes around the clock. During the day on the tractor "Kirovets" this business is occupied by the mechanizer Vasily Borkin. His car is more than 30 years old, but continues to use it on such a technological operation. Also, tramping is busy on the Amkodor loaders Alexander Galyak and Vladimir Karpenko. The three of them are daylight. In the night shift out Nikolai Sakun and Vasily Barabanov. The quality of tamping and in general feed laying is controlled by agronomist Nadezhda Efimenko.
Herbs due to drought also failed to meet expectations.
- So far, 15,000 tons of sanage have been harvested, Director Anatoly Panchenko said. - That's not enough. Looking for additional sources. After finishing the corn harvest on the silo, we will again take up the haying. In the case will grow in autumn another bite of alfalfa and cereal herbs. Given the passing from last year, the supply of hayage will be enough for the livestock. All feeds are expected for about 31 centners of feed units per conventional head of cattle.
In JSC Braginka, the yield of green mass of corn is also lower than last year. However, Director Tamara Kudan does not cause alarm:
- We have a large area of corn per silo - 960 hectares, which will allow it to be harvested in sufficient quantities. We expect 33 centners of feed units of grass feed on the conditional head of cattle.
A similar situation in the whole Braginsky district: corn instead of the planned 200 centners per hectare of green mass gives an average of only 120. Therefore, the gross harvest will be less: not 103 thousand tons, as planned, but only 87.
- In such a situation, as in OJSC Peramozhnik, attention was paid to the haying, explained the first deputy chairman of the district executive committee, head of the Department of Agriculture and Food Maxim Bolshakov. - So far it is in the area of 43 thousand tons. All farms will continue harvesting. We're expecting another 10,000. Remove every patch of grass.
Now the area has an average of 21 centners of feed units per conventional voice of cattle, which is clearly not enough. However, after the completion of the silage and haying, it is expected to reach a minimum of 28, a maximum of 30. This is enough for a normal winter, despite the difficulties presented by the weather.
First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Food of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Olga Voronovich said that 85 percent of corn has already been harvested for silage in the region. Yield - 154 centners of green mass, a year ago - 200. Therefore, the gross fee will be lower than last year. The haying is continuing. On average, at least 30 centners of feed units of grass feed per conventional head of cattle are expected, which is enough for successful wintering on farms.
